Active Travel to School at St Peter’s

At St Peter’s we are proud to champion Active Travel - encouraging our pupils and families to walk, cycle, or scoot to school whenever possible. Active travel not only supports healthier lifestyles but also helps reduce traffic congestion and pollution around our school gates.

Why Active Travel?

  • Health & Wellbeing: Walking or cycling to school helps children stay active, improves concentration, and boosts mood.
  • Environmental Impact: Fewer cars means cleaner air and a safer environment for everyone.
  • Community Spirit: Active travel encourages social interaction and builds stronger connections within our school community.

How We Support Active Travel

  • Walk to School from the park: We meet in Bullough Park at 8:30am each morning and enjoy each other’s company as we walk to school.
  • Road Safety Ambassadors: Our pupil-led team promotes safe and sustainable travel choices.
  • Park & Stride Zones: Families can park a short distance away and walk the rest of the journey.

Celebrating Success

We love to celebrate our active travellers! From stickers and certificates to class challenges and eco awards, every step counts. If we collect enough points then we might get a special visitor joining us!  Who knows!  Let’s give it a go to find out!
