Welcome to Year 1 and 2!
Welcome to our class page! This year promises to be full of wonder, growth, and discovery as children continue their learning journey through the National Curriculum, covering all core and foundation subjects.
Our class teacher is Mrs Mooring, who creates a nurturing and engaging environment where every child is encouraged to thrive.
Reading Matters
Reading is a top priority in KS1, and we’re committed to helping children become fluent, confident readers.
- Children will bring home a reading book every day.
- Books are changed once your child has read twice to support fluency.
- We ask that children read every night and that a parent or guardian signs their reading record.
- Reading books must be in school every day so we can read with your child regularly.

PE Days
PE lessons take place on:

- Wednesday
Please ensure your child has a named PE kit in school at all times. This helps us keep things running smoothly and ensures your child is always ready to participate.
Uniform & Essentials
To help us keep belongings safe and organised:
- Please label all uniform items and water bottles with your child’s full name.
What We’re Learning
We are packed with exciting topics designed to spark curiosity and build positive attitudes toward learning:
- History: We learn about Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale as significant figures in healthcare, and explore the history of the seaside.
- Geography: Children take part in local fieldwork and a coastal comparison study, learning about physical features and human impact.
- Science: Our focus is on planting and growth, encouraging children to explore nature through hands-on investigations and outdoor learning.
