St Peter’s CE Primary School Vision Statement

Another parent, when asked about the relationships they have with the children stated: "They just know, and I know this will sound impossible but it's true, every single individual child so well. They can tell by the looks on their faces what they need and that’s anyone in school." (SIAMs, January 2024)

At St Peter’s our distinctive Christian values underpin everything that we do by providing spiritual guidance, seeing every individual as one of God’s children regardless of faith and background.  We are an inclusive school that nurtures all.

Our vision is symbolised in our school logo, designed by the children in 2020.

The cross keys of St Peter are at the roots of learning giving the children everything they need to enable them to grow, flourish and develop. The tree is an Olive tree to match the bible quote, representing all children flourishing in the love of God and the cross symbolises the love of Christ guiding us in all we do.

Our mission is based on the Biblical teaching,

‘But I am like an olive tree, flourishing in the house of God.  I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.’  Psalm 52

It is summarised by our Vision Statement,

‘Unlocking the Potential for everyone to flourish in the love of Christ.’

In order to live out this vision, we ensure that our Christian ethos provides an environment where we treat one another with love and respect, teaching Christ’s new commandment, ‘Love one another as I have loved you.’ John 13.

We believe that it is our Christian duty to serve the community and we provide this through positive relationships with parents, the local community, Blackburn diocese, wider professionals and through charity work. We aim to unlock the God given talents of each individual with holistic development being at the heart of all we do. Through the provision of a broad and balanced curriculum, we aim to empower our school community with the wisdom, knowledge and skills to enable them to be the person God created them to be. ‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ Jerimiah 29.  We aspire to make a positive difference to our world, developing resilience in the belief that we can find the strength to overcome barriers through our faith in God’s love. ‘I can do all things through him who strengthens me.’  Philippians 4.

Our School Values

We teach and promote all of the Christian values through our biblical teaching however we focus on linking these to our four main school values.

Kindness

At St Peter’s we believe that Christ himself was the perfect role model of kindness. He healed the sick, fed the hungry and defended the children.

Therefore, At St Peter’s we encourage everybody to follow in the footsteps of Christ by creating a life that shows patience and kindness to everybody all day, every day.

We teach kindness through the Christian Values of compassion, love, friendship and respect

Belonging

At St Peter’s we believe that to belong to God is to feel safe and secure because our creator knows what we need and is able to offer it.

Therefore, at St Peter’s we offer everybody a place to feel safe, secure and loved through the union of Christ.

Peace

At St Peter’s we believe that God sent Jesus, the prince of peace, to create harmony and share the peace with others

Therefore, at St Peter’s we support everybody to find their inner peace, peace amongst friends and peace in the community.

Courage

At St Peter’s we believe that with God’s protection and guidance we should be able to conquer our fears and live a life of determination.

Therefore, At St Peter’s we encourage everybody to be strong and courageous. We encourage everybody to believe in themselves and live a life of ‘good cheer’.
