Ofsted Report
At St Peter’s, we are proud of the high standards we set for our pupils and the warm, inclusive environment we provide. Our latest Ofsted inspection reflects our commitment to quality education, safeguarding, and personal development.
What is Ofsted?
Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills) is the official body for inspecting schools in England.
Our Latest Inspection
Our most recent Ofsted inspection took place in April 2026. You can read the full report by clicking the document below:
What Ofsted Said About Us
Here are a few highlights from the report:
safeguarding standards have been met. This means that leaders and governors have established an open culture in which safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. Concerns are actively identified, acted upon and managed, and as a result, your children are made safer and feel safe at St Peter's.
What the Inspectors Found
The inspection team spent time observing our classrooms, speaking with children, staff, governors and parents, and reviewing our work. They found much to celebrate across our school:
Strengths
Attendance and Behaviour: Your children behave well in our calm, focused classrooms. We have made real progress in improving attendance through initiatives like 'Walk on Wednesdays' and our daily 'wake and shake'. Bullying is very rare, and children have confidence that any incidents will be dealt with quickly and effectively.
Early Years: Our youngest learners develop a real thirst for learning in our well-resourced environment. They benefit from purposeful play and exploration, with a particular focus on communication and language. Children are developing the foundations they need to read, write and use numbers confidently.
Inclusion: The inspectors recognised how well we know our pupils and families. We have ensured that our curriculum supports children who speak English as an additional language, and we work closely with external professionals to provide the right support for children with special educational needs and disabilities. Our additional funding is used carefully and in children's best interests.
Leadership and Governance: Staff are proud to work at St Peter's. Governors closely monitor the impact of our work on all pupils and understand their statutory duties. Parents speak very highly of the school, and the inspectors noted that you believe your children's best interests are always at the heart of our decisions.
Personal Development and Wellbeing: We have designed a coherent programme to promote your children's personal development. Pupils celebrate difference, develop an understanding of fundamental British values, and participate in a wide range of clubs and visits. Leadership roles such as 'Road Safety Advocates' and 'Wellbeing Warriors' help children feel a strong sense of belonging.
Curriculum and Teaching: Our curriculum beyond English and mathematics is well designed with clear end points for learning. Staff are skilled in adapting teaching for children with additional needs, and we have prioritised improvements to reading and mathematics.
Areas for Development
The inspectors also identified that we need to continue to focus on writing, particularly for our older pupils. While our recent improvements to the English curriculum are having a positive impact in the early years and Key Stage 1, older pupils have some gaps in their learning. The inspectors have noted that handwriting continues to be a barrier to writing stamina in some classes.
This aligns with our own school improvement priorities, and we are already taking decisive steps to address this and this was validated by OFSTED. We remain committed to ensuring all our children develop the strong foundations they need to be successful and ready for their next stage of education.
